Collapsing New People (2017)
by France Lise McGurn
Acrylic, Pearl and Semi-Precious Stones
This painting is based upon the wall of the stairwell in Tate St Ives. It caught my attention by the way the human faces and bodies were formed and the loose, gestural quality. Reading further into this piece the Tate wrote - 'While all of her characters cavort and intermingle, each fragment of her painting refers to different myths and tales', which is a key interest of mine looking into mythology.
