Part of the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, this is an area I have always been to. A mixture of heathland and woodland it contains rare wildlife, mainly insects! It has been estimated that 140 different types of solitary bee & wasp live on the Common with some being extremely rare in other parts of the UK. The area contains loads of pathways but many can be muddy (even in summer), especially in the woodland area. Great walk of around 2,000 to 5,000 steps depending on what route.
