Today The UK Fashion & Textile Association come into our University to talk to us about the next project we are doing. The UKFT is the most inclusive British network for fashion and textile companies. UKFT brings together designers, manufacturers, agents and retailers to promote their businesses and our industry throughout the UK and internationally. Within this seminar we discuss the new development in UK manufacturing after the decline within the 80s/90s to outsourcing to other countries.

Globalisation is key within this talk and after studying A Level geography it was good to see I can bring my knowledge into this section of my degree. Globalisation is the process of the world becoming more interconnected through trade and migration. Its still a factor in our times and affects a countries economic, social, environmental and political aspects. They told us the benefits and costs creating a business through outsourcing for manufacturing, to whether using agents were what we wanted. It was very much a seminar of looking into the future and seeing whether making our own business was sometime we wanted to look into. I believe its been extremely beneficial, full of information and made me think more about this idea of business I've never learnt before.
