One of the most Iconic Trainers ever, the Stan Smith is still widely worn and considered a stable item for any wardrobe. Originally the shoe was created for tennis with the help of American Tennis Player Stan Smith. The shoe, usually made with a white leather upper and laces, has a simple design. Unlike most Adidas shoes, it does not have the external three stripes. Instead there are three rows of perforations (or punched ventilation holes) on both sides of each shoe's leather upper in the same pattern that should symbolize the three ordinary stripes. In 1988, the adidas stan smith had been sold in about 22 million pairs, and the shoe was listed in Guinness World Records.
For this project, I thought why not bring it back to its roots of being a tennis shoe but bring a street style vibe to the piece. The "Ugly" Trainer trend is very current at the moment in fashion and to me are some of the more beautiful parts of trainers I've ever seen. My goals are that it need to have the benefits for a tennis player, have general use and comfort and look aesthetically pleasing.
