Toile 1: Spilt Side Jacket

The spilt side jacket is something that I'm looking forward to see how it will develop in this project. I love making, and designing jackets, especially the hood aspect of it. I've already done samples of what the hood should look like and made sure it was close to the face and fitted well to the head. I used the ski block to create this jacket, as I thought it would give the baggy effect I was looking for and had the sleeve that I wanted. What I changed from the block:

- Added a mesh panel and outer layer to create ventilation

- Added articulation to the sleeve using panels

- Split sides after the mesh paneling to access to pockets underneath.

Overall, the general shape of the piece is what I wanted. The sleeve are slightly over the shoulder and armhole is larger to have the movement of the shoulder. However, the fabric is slightly too thick for what I want and this may affect the general look when using my real fabric (ripstop). In addition, I think that the length of the garment is too long and I need to take into consideration what zip length I am going to use, as I had this problem last time (which lead to adding an extra panel that I didn't want).

There are some changes that really need doing but hopefully I will only need to one more toile for the jacket to be finalised.

What needs to change:

- Add onto the length of the outer layer over the mesh panelling

- The length of the sleeve

- Move the elbow articulation by 3cm

- Reduce the length of the jacket to match the zip

- Add the hood, zip and add hems etc
