Illustration Development

I wanted to try layering for my illustration to create the effect of translucency, from the inspiration of the Hockney Swimming Pool motif. It does appear more obvious in person, but it still doesn't have that 3D depth and movement I want. I'm not sure whether I need to be more fluid in my drawing, not make it so obvious lines. I like that the line marker has smudged as I feel it gives blurry movement effect, which I will explore more.
