Final Garment: Jacket

So there was some alteration with the jacket (look at blog called...). After this I knew it was best to let it rest till the end of the week and then go back to get it finished. So its finally finished, I'm glad to say that its finished. I have enjoyed this design and I always like to create a jacket, but after the situation I feel that I rushed it too much at the end and should have waited.
There were some things that I changed before making this garment:
- Reduce the length of the jacket to fit the zip I brought
- Reduce the hem line of the outer layer to make the piece look similar size
These small changes weren't too obvious for the piece but it just make it look more appealing.

The overall appearance and silhouette I am glad with as it does have a sportswear aesthetic and has the functions I wanted. Its weather resistance, ventilation around the front and back, full protection. The fabric was an okay choice, I wish I had a better quality ripstop and the colour is slightly different (as I wanted to have a lighter blue). However, it was easy to use in the sonic welting machine and taped well compared to last jacket (where the membrane melted). The best thing to do was the hood and I feel that I've improved the taping aspect of the jacket as there aren't as many folds and it feels flat.
There are some issues with the jacket with construction:
- The white tape wasn't the best choice to use in the sleeves
- One side of the jacket is oddly longer than the other? Not sure how that has happened but will investigate into it more
If I had more time I would experiment more into the articulation of the arm but everything else I'm super happy about. I believe this jacket is a lot better than my old one as it seems to fit better on the body, the fabric is slightly better quality and it still has that innovative side.
Overall, I am pleased with what I have produced and I feel I have definitely improved on my making skills towards making a functional aesthetically pleasing jacket. However, it can always be improved and I feel I need to get used to taking my time and not rushing as I always finished on time.
