The tennis dress is finally done and ready. I started this piece on Saturday, my day when everything was going well . I'm very pleased with the result of this garment and believe I have constructed it very well. There were changes I had made for this garment:

- Jumper is now two piece (eliminated shoulder seam)

- Skirt made more aline to prevent pulling it down when tennis ball is present in shorts

- Added panel piece at the back of jumper, so can be tied around the waist better

The fabric is a lot different to my toiling fabric choice, due to it being thicker (spacer mesh) compared to the lightweight breathable grey fabric choice. I feel in love with the fabric as soon as I saw it in London and I just thought it would bring the classic whites look to tennis, whilst keeping in with the David Hockney Inspiration. I feel that it looks quite formal and professional looking, which is nice to bring in the everyday look I was going for. It does have a retro feel but a modern twist included into it. In addition, having it slightly off-white makes the base layer pop out more which was the plan. I believe the fabric maybe a little too thick for what I wanted (as around the hem of the skirt is kinda flares out weirdly) but I believe it does make the outfit look more elegant and funky. Its something different brought into tennis.

Most of it is overlocked together with 4 thread is there is a slight stretch, with an elasticated waistband, pockets for phone, tennis ball, etc, and the jumper is detachable to around the waist. This is connected with the new pattern piece I introduced in a pervious blog and works really well (can be seen in the picture to the left). It doesn't look as ruffled and allowed the jumper to be loose (increasing ventilation and becoming more aesthetically pleasing). Movement isn't restricted in this garment, which was a main aspect to this piece.

Overall, I'm super happy with this piece of my outfit and believe its the best constructed one. It has been enjoyable to work on this piece as its so different to other stuff I've done before and a dress isn't considered very sportswearish anyways. It was good to introduce some fashion into sportswear, which is one of my goals to achieve anyways and I feel that I have achieved it well with this design and construction. In addition, ut was nice to give myself the challenge of making it wrap around the waist and hope to think more into ideas like that for next year.
